This time of year, whether you celebrate Christmas or not is a time for reflection; albeit positive and negative experiences you may have encountered throughout the year. It can be an incredibly hard time for you or your family and friends who may have experienced the unimaginable – perhaps the loss of someone so dear to you, that you find it hard to put it into words how best to deal with your emotions. And at the best of times, it’s human nature to shrug everything under the carpet, and to ignore the root of the problem or your emotional turmoil you are feeling. However, for many consoling your grief and bereavement is the best thing you could do for yourself and for those around you, and or the memory to live on for the one you have lost. It’s part of the circle of life, and if you have never been through grief and loss, someone next to you has.
Dealing with grief, loss and a bereavement is a difficult process and it is one of the most challenging situations to face. But there are ways to help. EFT, known as Emotional Freedom Technique, is a form of natural counselling methods which involves the use of ‘tapping’, providing relief from chronic pain, emotional issues, addictions, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and physical diseases. Whilst tapping is considerably new in the field of mental health, it has the ability to revolutionize the field of health and wellbeing. Tapping, similar to acupuncture is a set of technique which utilize the body’s energy meridian points, where you can stimulate these points by tapping on them with your fingertips. Different points of your body signal a different emotion, and so you become in control of your feelings.
One of the most common phrase psychologists or therapists trained in EFT, such as Lauren Rosenberg at Fear Busters hear, is ‘if only i had known…or I could have done this…’ Tapping is used in circumstances like this, when we need to make sure that we take the emotional charge out of phrases like this, to know that nothing could have been done. Lauren Rosenberg at Fear Busters understands the heartbreaking and emotional turmoil of losing someone close. Lauren, as a specialist in EFT and tapping techniques will help you to break down your feelings and understand how tapping and EFT techniques can change the way you’re thinking and feeling in a beautiful way. It helps you to let go of the ‘what if’s’, which can be dangerous to someone going through grief. Lauren Rosenberg unfortunately suffered the loss of her daughter, Liora, and knowing the full potential EFT and the associated techniques had on herself and her family, she has written a book which is due to published in January called ‘Love, Light, Liora’. The book is intended to help you go through the same feelings Lauren went through, displaying natural ways to confront your grievance and any negative emotions.
But until then, here are some tapping suggestions, when you’re feeling the following:
- This is too much for me
- I don’t know what to do
- Even though I am overwhelmed and scared of what’s to come, what does this mean for everyone staying behind.
- Even though I am over overwhelmed, I acknowledge my feelings and loss with compassion and kindness.
- I feel this deep grief
- I would love to see a way how this could be possible
- What if there was more understanding than I had anticipated?
